KARACHI: As many as 7,376 doctors who are working in the Sindh government’s health facilities under the administrative control of health department have been ‘missing’ since past couple of years, while they are getting their salaries, as usual, Pakistan Today learnt on Saturday.
According to sources, the number is much higher than the mentioned however the health department has issued a last warning to some 7,376 doctors who are missing for many years. “These doctors are on long leaves/working abroad on heavy salaries and the majority of them are working in the Gulf countries”, sources alleged.
In this regard, Section Officer (Automation) Ali Dars forwarded a letter No E&A (H)(G)/MISC/2018 to the Health Services director general with a list of 7,376 doctors with their credentials for further perusal.
“It is stated that the schedule timeline for collecting verifying data of employees of health department has been finally extended up to30.9.2018”, the letter said.
“The employees of health department who have not appeared for biometric verification are advised to appear for biometric verification at automation unit situated at 6th floor health department, Sindh Secretariat Karachi up to 30.9.2018, no further date will be extended, if after completion of deadline, the employees do not report, disciplinary proceeding will be initiated against them with the stoppage of salary”, the letter added.
“It is, therefore, requested to please direct and ensure that all remaining staff working under your jurisdiction and other health facilities/offices should appear as per given deadline without fail”, the letter concluded.
