Army College’s students give donation to CJ for dam fund

ISLAMABAD: A group of 100 students of the Abbottabad-based Army Burn Hall College (ABHC) for Boys visited the Supreme Court Museum on Wednesday as part of their study tour, and presented a cheque of Rs 5 lacs to Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Saqib Nisar as donation for the Diamer Basha and Mohmand dam.

This fund had been raised by the students themselves. The chief justice greatly appreciated efforts of the students. The group was accompanied by faculty members as well. Last week, Justice Saqib Nisar had said that construction of new dams was critical for its survival, promising that he would continue his efforts for the purpose even after his retirement.

He vowed to protect the dams for the construction of which the Supreme Court had initiated a campaign, saying that he was even ready to live in a tent on a dam’s site if it would be required for its protection. In a brief pre-recorded address to the nation on Friday, Prime Minister Imran Khan appealed to the countrymen, especially overseas Pakistanis, to generously contribute for building new dams.
