ECP orders re-poll at Balochistan’s two PB-41 polling stations

Re-polling on Tuesday at two Balochistan’s PB-41 polling stations was ordered by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) because the presiding officers concerned were allegedly abducted and forced to give in rigged results on election day.

Balochistan Awami Party’s (BAP) Mir Mujeebur Rehman Mohammad Hasani had filed a petition with the ECP pertaining to the issue following which the decision was taken.

The returning officer (RO) concerned told the commission that masked men had allegedly abducted the presiding officers following which the results of those stations had not been included in the final result.

An ECP official asked, “Who had abducted them?”

Quoting the presiding officer, the winner from the constituency’s counsel said they were “abducted by security forces”.

The ECP was earlier informed by the Polling station 44 presiding officer that “several masked men came and took me with them, and after several hours I was handed the Form 45”.

The commission had earlier reserved its decision pertaining to the result of the two polling stations.

Furthermore, the electoral body uploaded a letter written by the polling station 45 presiding officer, verified and stamped by the returning officer concerned, in which the presiding officer has claimed that he was “abducted by security forces” and he was forced to submit a fabricated Form 45 in favour of the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal candidate, who won the election.
