ISLAMABAD: Speaker National Assembly (NA) Asad Qaiser has said that the early completion of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is the top priority of both countries as the future of the people of both nations were attached with the project.
He said this during a detailed meeting regarding CPEC that was held under the chairmanship of Asad Qaiser in the Parliament House on Tuesday.
The meeting was attended by Defence Minister Pervez Khattak, NA Deputy Speaker Muhammad Qasim Khan Suri, Planning, Development and Reforms Minister Khusro Bakhtiar, State Minister Murad Saeed, Advisor for Establishment Division Muhammad Shehzad Arbab, Senator Fida Muhammad, members of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) provincial assembly, local leadership and concerned authorities of the CPEC.
The NA speaker further said that the friendship between Pakistan and China will prove to be a hallmark in enhancing the development and progress of the region. The CEPC project is also going to be a game changer for the rest of the Central Asian countries.
Qaiser further said that during the recent visit of the Chinese foreign minister, a detailed discussion was made for the project’s early completion as well as, the interest of the project for both the counties.
He said that present government has fully focused on the project and looks forward to overcoming the shortage of energy with its completion.
He said that coastal areas of the country will become the hub of the trade and business due to the CPEC. After its completion, the system of the railways will be expanded and become economical. Both countries want to strengthen co-operation in all sectors including CPEC.
Minister Khusro Bakhtiar said that CPEC is a symbol of friendship between the two countries. The project will ensure the establishment of the industrial zone in the whole country and electricity will be supplied to all of Pakistan including Baluchistan.
Khusro Bakhtiar said that transportation of goods will be made economical and easy by the renewed railway system as the government is committed to strengthening the rail system from Karachi to Peshawar.
