Ever since Prime Minister Imran Khan appealed to the nation for donations to the dams fund set up by the Supreme Court, resident and overseas Pakistanis have responded overwhelmingly to the national cause raising the amount to nearly Rs2 billion.

With the share of overseas Pakistanis in the overall donation collection being remarkable, it is being speculated that Pakistani-American billionaire businessman and philanthropist Shahid Khan has announced donating $1 billion for the construction of dams in Pakistan.

The assumptions started making rounds over the internet after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator Faisal Javed reportedly told PM Khan that a Pakistani-American was willing to donate 1 billion USD.

Although there hasn’t been any confirmation from the Fulham Football Club owner himself, social media is flooding with reactions to the buzz.

Meanwhile, a user also tweeted Shahid’s son, asking if the speculations had any truth to them.

It merits a mention here that expatriates from the United States (US) have contributed the highest amount of Rs5.72 million for the Diamer-Bhasha and Mohmand Dams Fund.

Pakistanis living in the United Kingdom (UK) and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have donated amounts of Rs4.19 million and Rs4.13 million, respectively, while donations from Canada and France stand at more than one million each.
