ISLAMABAD: British Prime Minister’s Special Representative to Afghanistan and Pakistan, Gareth Bayley called on Ministry of Foreign Affairs Secretary Tehmina Janjua and discussed issues of mutual interest during his visit to Pakistan.
Well placed diplomatic sources have informed Pakistan Today that a special focus was placed on the unique and enduring Pakistan-UK relationship.
“During his visit – his second this year –Bayley reaffirmed the UK’s commitment to regional peace and security,” Foreign Office (FO) said.
He also made calls on government officials including the Foreign, SAFRON and Interior secretaries, senior commentators and members of the diplomatic corps. Throughout these discussions, Bayley highlighted the important role that Pakistan can play in ensuring regional security, a FO statement said.
During his visit, he went to Peshawar where he met the Bishop of Peshawar before going to speak at the Foreign Service Academy. Also, he met ministers of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government Khyber, KP governor and other senior officials. He also visited and a public school for girls.
