Former federal railways minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Saad Rafique on Wednesday ‘exposed’ the austerity drive by ruling party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

The PML-N leader on his Twitter handle wrote: “PM Imran Khan is living in a four-canal house of military secretary inside PM House and its standard is no less than PM annexe. What kind of austerity is this?”

In his victory speech, Imran Khan stated that he will not live in luxury Prime Minister House and will stay in a smaller house under his government’s austerity drive.

On Wednesday, PTI had shared footage of the PM House in Islamabad. The video showed the lavish drawing rooms and meeting rooms at the PM’s residence.

“This is the Prime Minister House of a country where more than twenty-five million children are out of school. It is an emperor’s palace spread over 1,100 canals.”

The video shows the lavish bedrooms and interior of the PM house, as well as the parks.

“The prime minister of Pakistan will not live in this residential palace anymore. Buildings that symbolize the wealth and power of your rulers will now be transferred to the public domain”
