Remembering the 1965 war in pictures

Pakistan celebrates its 52nd Defence Day on Thursday. Defence and Martyrs Day celebrates the occasion of Pakistan’s defence against India which marked ceasefire in the 1965 Pakistan-India war.

In order to commemorate the day, social media users have been sharing images from the war.

The Twitter handle of All Pakistan Muslim League (APML)  shared pictures of Pakistani armed forces hoisting flags to mark captured territory including the Munabao railway station, Rajhastan.

Another picture shows army personnel posing outside the Gutaro fort seat in Rahim Yar Khan.

A user shared pictures of front pages of international newspapers in which they reported the ceasefire.

Twitter user, Waqas Khan posted a picture of fighter pilot Muhammad Mahmood Alam (MM Alam) credited by Pakistanis with having downed nine Indian Air Force aircraft within a minute during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965.
