Khawaja Asif, Tariq Fatemi, Javed Hashmi and Khurram Dastgir met Nawaz in jail
RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders and Sharif family members met the imprisoned former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (retd) Safdar in Adiala jail on Thursday.
Thursday have been allocated visiting days for Nawaz and his family in jail. However, visitors are not allowed to stay beyond 4 pm.
Khawaja Asif, Tariq Fatemi, Javed Hashmi and Khurram Dastgir were among PML-N leaders who met the former premier in prison today.
Pervaiz Rashid, Daniyal Aziz and Rana Fazal also met Nawaz.
AL-AZIZIA CORRUPTION REFERENCE:
Accountability Court II Judge Arshad Malik on Thursday resumed hearing of Al-Azizia corruption reference against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.
Nawaz’s lawyer, Khawaja Haris, continue cross-examining of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) witness Wajid Zia-who was also the head of Panama Joint Investigation Team (JIT).
The court earlier had exempted the deposed premier from appearing before the court.
On July 6, an accountability court had sentenced Nawaz to a total of 11 years in prison and slapped a £8 million fine (Rs1.3 billion) in the corruption reference, while his daughter Maryam was sentenced to eight years with a £2 million fine (Rs335 million). Nawaz’s son-in-law Capt (retd) Safdar was also given a one-year sentence without any fine.
