Celebs honour 1965 war martyrs on Defence Day

Pakistan celebrates its 52nd Defence Day on Thursday. Defence and Martyrs Day symbolises the occasion of Pakistan’s defence against India which marked ceasefire in the 1965 Pakistan-India war.

Along with the rest of the country, renowned Pakistani celebrities are also saluting the army for its efforts and sacrifices.

“Today is the day to honour our brave soldiers who have worked tirelessly day and night to ensure Pakistan remains peaceful & unharmed. It’s also the day to remember & honour our martyrs and their families. Please do say a prayer for them. Pakistan Zindabad,” wrote Humayun Saeed in a tweet.

Actor Hamza Ali Abbasi, whose latest film, Parwaaz Hai Junoon, paid a tribute to the Pakistan Airforce expressed his love his country and saluted those who laid down their lives for the country.

Singer Shehzad Roy shared that he is proud to be a Pakistani and will be going to attend the Defence Day event. The singer is also the proud recipient of Tamga-e-Imtiaz, Sitara-e-Eesaar and Sitara-e-Imtiaz.

Faysal Qureshi paid a tribute to the Pakistan Army in a video message.

Veena Malik also remembered the “sher jawaans” of the country who are “our heroes and pride.”
