LAHORE: Suspended SSP Junaid Arshad of Police Services of Pakistan (PSP) has filed a petition in the Lahore High Court (LHC) against District and Sessions Judge Rafaqat Ali Gondal and Additional District and Sessions Judge Hafeezur Rehman Khan for allegedly siding with his ex-wife in a cybercrime case against him.

The complainant has sought a departmental inquiry and legal action against the respondents due to alleged misconduct of profession and violation of the law. He has further requested the court to withdraw the judges’ judicial as well as administrative powers.

He has also accused Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Punjab Director Dr Usman Anwar of siding with his ex-wife, Ayesha Subhani, and proceeding a “one-sided case of cybercrime” after allegedly developing illicit relations with her.

The police officer has also moved an application against Dr Usman in FIA for forging and tampering documents.

FIA Punjab Director Dr Usman, on the other hand, has said, “I met the lady in my office along with her lawyer and an FIA team several months ago. I regard the lady as decent and honourable.”

Ayesha Subhani, his ex-wife, had registered an FIR with FIA’s cybercrime wing in June for allegedly blackmailing her with the assistance of a friend, Danish Ghani, by uploading objectionable pictures of her on social media.

On the other hand, Ayesha Subhani while talking to Pakistan Today alleged Arshad of being a “criminal and habitual liar”. She had also lodged a case against her former husband while accusing him of stealing jewelry worth 20 tolas besides Rs150 million.

The Gilgit-Baltistan crime branch SSP was suspended for his alleged involvement in cybercrime in 2017. The police officials, following the complaint, conducted a raid to arrest Arshad, but he had already obtained a pre-arrest bail.
