ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry on Tuesday said the presidential election would further strengthen the democratic process in the country.
Talking to media persons outside the Parliament House here, he said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) candidate Arif Alvi was a strong, committed and honest person, who would hopefully win with an overwhelming majority.
He said after presidential elections, the transition of power would be completed and a new smooth era would commence in the country.
He said the slot of the president was an important post and Arif Alvi after his election, would hopefully work for further strengthening national integrity and unity.
To a question, the minister said Pakistan People’s Party leader Khursheed Shah’s had issued an out of context statement about a consensus presidential candidate for the sake of media coverage.
To another question, he said the PTI government had started its innings confidently and it was fully focused on its first 100 days plan. Within initial nine days, it had started moving towards its set goals, he added.
He said on Sunday, the PTI government planted some 1.5 million trees while it had constituted task forces for various sectors. Moreover, he added, as per the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan the government had also ended censorship on state media.
He said the prime minister had constituted the Economic Advisory Council, comprising experts, which would benefit the entire nation.
To a question, Fawad said minorities in Pakistan were equal citizens and it was the responsibility of all to protect their rights.
