PM Imran constitutes committee for provision of five million homes

Prime Minister Imran Khan has formed a committee which will provide recommendations to the premier over plans to construct five million homes for the middle and lower-income groups via the private sector, a local media outlet reported on Monday.

The prime minister also chaired a meeting on Monday where he was briefed about the models and strategies followed abroad to manage housing problems.

The housing secretary has also been directed to oversee a committee which will develop a detailed plan of action in consultation with experts. The committee is expected to brief the premier within a week.

“The committee will take into account all aspects including the legal framework, availability of land bank and raising of required resources for smooth implementation of the project,” read a statement released by the PM Office.
