JPPFL chairman expresses hope for greater level of cooperation between Pakistan, Japan

ISLAMABAD: Chairman of the Japan-Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship League (JPPFL) Chairman Seishiro Eto on Tuesday said that he looked forward to a greater level of cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the area of trade, investment, infrastructure and human resource development.

 

 

He said this during a meeting with the Prime Minister (PM) of Pakistan Imran Khan as part of a parliamentary delegation to Pakistan being held from September 3 to September 5.

Eto, who is heading the parliamentary delegation, congratulated the PM on the continuity of the democratic process and on assumption of the office of the prime minister.

He stated that Japan looked forward to further strengthening the bilateral relationship which is based on mutual trust. Both sides agreed that increased parliamentary exchanges will provide a robust foundation for further strengthening bilateral relations.

The PM appreciated the positive momentum of the bilateral relations between the two countries as well as, the impressive warmth, vigour and pioneering spirit of Japanese people. He acknowledged the importance of Japan as a development partner and the cordial relation between the two countries, which is free of any irritant.

Both sides appreciated the historically friendly bilateral relations and praised mutual cooperation between the two countries. Eto, while stating that such interactions would consolidate bilateral friendship, expressed gratitude for the warmth and hospitality provided by the Government of Pakistan.

The two high-level visits within a short span of a week reflect the Japanese government’s desire to reach out to the new government in Pakistan in order to reaffirm the importance that Japan attaches to this relationship.
