Imran has faith in Alvi’s ability to serve country

ISLAMABAD: After Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Arif Alvi was elected as the 13th president of Pakistan, Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed his best wishes for Alvi and said that he is sure that the new president would serve the country and its people with sincerity and commitment.

The prime minister also shared a picture of his youth with the new president.

National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser and Deputy Speaker Muhammad Qasim Khan Suri congratulated Dr Arif Rehman Alvi on his election as the 13th president of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

In a congratulatory message to Alvi, they extended warm facilitation to him on his success and said that his election was evidence of confidence and trust of leadership the members of National Assembly, Senate and provincial assemblies reposed in his acumen and capabilities.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi also congratulated Dr Arif Alvi on his election as the next president. On his Twitter account, Qureshi further posted that Dr Alvi stood by Prime Minister Imran Khan and was committed to the struggle for ‘a Naya Pakistan’ from the very beginning.

“I have full faith, Dr Alvi will prove to be a worthy president,” he added.

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) President Asif Ali Zardari also felicitated Alvi on his success and said that the PPP has always worked for democracy and has strengthened democratic norms in the county.

He said that the president is a representative of all the four federating units and should represent every stratum of society.

Moreover, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Senator Sirajul Haq, while congratulating Arif Alvi, expressed the hope that he would ensure the supremacy of constitution in the country.

In a message of greetings, Sirajul hoped that Dr Arif Alvi would play his role as an impartial president and seek the support of all others for the rule of law.

Other politicians, civil society members and academicians also congratulated Dr Alvi for winning the presidential election with a majority and becoming the 13th elected president of Pakistan.

They expressed the hope that newly elected president will utilise all his energies for the strengthening of federating units and solve the country’s problems during his five-year tenure as president of the country.

PTI MNA from Peshawar, Nasir Khan Musazai, told APP that success of Arif Alvi was a triumph of the democratic process.

With the successful completion of presidential elections, he said that the process for smooth transition of power has been completed in Pakistan.

Nazim Bahadar Khan also congratulated Alvi for becoming elected president of Pakistan and expressed the optimism that under his leadership, the country would move forward on road to progress and development.

Retired Information Officer Misal Khan also hailed Dr Alvi for becoming an elected president and maintained that the country would attain new heights of progress and development under his leadership in next five years.

The academician, lawyers and civil society have also congratulated Dr Arif Alvi for becoming elected president of Pakistan and said that his election was a good omen for the strengthening of the parliamentary democratic system in the country.
