Chakwal DC asks ECP to take action against PTI MNA

Chakwal Deputy Commissioner Ghulam Saghir Shahid in his official communique has asked the Election Commission of Pakistan and Punjab chief secretary to take action against PTI MNA Zulfiqar Ali Khan as he was trying to get control of postings and transfers of Girdawars and Patwaris

The DC stated that he received a sealed envelope from the MNA on August 31, 2018, in which he asked him to transfer/post 17 officials of the Revenue Department. The list was duly signed by the MNA.

The DC further stated that the very next day he received a call from Zulfiqar Khan asking him to cancel the transfer order of Patwari Muhammad Aslam who was transferred to Choa Saiden Shah from Kallar Kahar.

According to DC, he had transferred 5 Patwaris to Choa Saiden Shah from Tehsil Chakwal and Kallar Kahar on the request of Choa Saiden Shah assistant commissioner in the best interest of public.

The DC said that the MNA again rang him up on Monday and asked him to cancel the said transfer as it was not approved by him. The DC said that he told Mr Khan that district collector and AC concerned were entitled to transfer/post the field staff of the Revenue Department and he had no role in this scenario.

The DC also refused to do postings/transfers on his recommendation after which MNA Zulfiqar threatened him with dire consequences.

The DC has asked the ECP to take action against the MAN under the law as his political interference was unlawful and unwarranted.
