Capital’s police deny IG’s pistol, documents stolen

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Police on Tuesday denied claims that the official pistol and documents belonging to Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jan Muhammad had been stolen.

“The pistol of an official was misplaced and an inquiry in this regard had been initiated as per the due procedure,” according to the official statement released by the capital’s police force. An investigation had been launched by the capital city police after the official pistol and documents belonging to the police chief had allegedly been stolen.

On Friday, the matter regarding the theft of the pistol and documents was reported to the police headquarters, after which an inquiry was launched. The police officials had claimed that the stolen pistol was issued to the IG’s gunman and was not the top official’s personal weapon.

Valuables had also been stolen from the car while it was parked at the IG’s official residence in Sector F-7. The top police official’s staffers were also questioned by the police.
