PESHAWAR: Returning Officer (RO) for PK-78 by-election on Monday accepted the nomination papers of Samar Bilour, widow of Haroon Bilour, for the upcoming election on October 14.

Nomination papers of Samar Bilour were scrutinised by Returning Officer at the office of Election Commission of Pakistan.

Danial Bilour, son of Haroon Bilour, represented her mother during the scrutiny process. Later, the RO declared the papers correct.

Talking to media, Danial Bilour thanked all the political parties which had not fielded their candidates against Samar Bilour. When asked about the response of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in that regard, he said, no contact had been made with the party leadership so far.

However, he said his party was ready to contest the election if the PTI fielded its candidate against Samar Bilour.

It merits a mention here that Haroon Bilour, the candidate of Awami National Party (ANP) from PK-78 Peshawar, had embraced martyrdom during a suicide attack during electioneering in the city on July 12, last. The suicide bomber targeting Haroon Bilour had claimed more than 20 lives and injured 62 others.

Due to the death of Haroon Bilour, the election on PK-78 was postponed by Election Commission of Pakistan.
