LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Arif Alvi on Saturday said that he will try to foster unity between provinces when he is elected as the president.
He said this while speaking to media persons in Lahore after his meeting with Punjab Assembly Speaker Pervaiz Elahi.
“Creating unity between provinces is the responsibility of a president,” he said, adding that he will take Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) on board to improve the condition of Karachi.
The PTI nominee further said that the masses will see a clear difference between him and outgoing President Mamnoon Hussain.
During the meeting with Elahi, Alvi requested the speaker to ensure the maximum number of votes for him from the Punjab Assembly. The Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leader assured Alvi of his full support.
Alvi is contesting against two other nominees of the opposition, namely PPP’s Ahsan Iqbal and Jamiat Ulema-Islam (JUI) chief Fazlur Rehman, for the presidential run on September 4.
