The Suki Kinari hydro-power project is expected to add 870 MW to the national grid by 2022, a local media outlet reported on Friday.

Suki Kinari Hydropower Project (SKHPP) is the largest private-sector owned hydro-power project in Pakistan. It is being constructed on Kunhar River in the Kaghan Valley of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

Embassy of China Counsellor Li Yuanling said that the project has been included in China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and is considered as an ‘Early Harvest Project (EHP)’.

It is set to be completed by the end of 2022.

A total of four hydro-power projects associated with Suki Kinari are expected to produce up to 1300 MW of power.
