PTI’s Dr Alvi says roadmap for progress to come in 100 days

  • Petition in SHC refers to pending cases against Dr Alvi despite latter’s contrary claims

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) nominee for presidential election Dr Arif Alvi on Friday said that a roadmap for the progress of the country would be unveiled in the next 100 days.

Talking to the media after his arrival here, he said that Prime Minister Imran Khan’s focus is on the first 100-day plan of the government and he would do a monthly review in this regard.

To a question, he said that he did not want to discuss or comment on the political opponents of the PTI. “However, I will win the elections with a thumping majority,” he added.

Alvi said that there was not a single case pending against him.

To another question, he said that the post of the president should not be ignored as it has a crucial role in terms of being a symbol of unity of the federation.

He said that the country is facing several issues facing the including water and sanitation, in which the president could play a role.

“After becoming president, I will play my role but will never interfere in the chief executive’s affairs,” he added.

He said that the prime minister would monitor the implementation of the PTI programme.

To a question about Dr Amir Liaqat, he said that Amir is his friend and he would vote for him, adding that differences within the party is a common thing in politics, however, these differences would be resolved.

PETITION FILED IN SHC:

A petition was filed against Dr Alvi in the Sindh High Court (SHC) in which it was argued that Alvi committed forgery as the member of Tableegi Trust.

Petitioner further stated that Alvi changed court record for in connection with the illegal occupation of land and the matter is pending in the courts for the last several years.

Incumbent SHC Chief Justice Ahmad Ali Sheikh had issued orders for expediting the decision of this case but no decision could be made on this after the lapse of four years.

Petitioner further said that Alvi will be able to enjoy amnesty after assuming the office of the President.

The SHC sought the record of the case till September 25.
