LAHORE – In a bid to embrace Naya Pakistan with utmost devotion, Ahmad Shahzad has hired the services of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) central senior vice president and prominent lawyer Babar Awan to fight his cause for justice after the discarded opener was tested positive for doping.

The political figure will not only raise Shahzad’s hopes of a minimum punishment but also train the jobless cricketer on how to survive under the new government and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) order.

Taking to Twitter, Shahzad said, “I am a changed person now. Under the new government, I promise to take those singles and doubles.”

“Yes, I will try not to take up the entire over with dot balls and bore the a## off the non-striker,” he responded to a fellow opener in the same thread.

He added, “This is Naya Pakistan. Austerity that shows and accountability of others are the top priorities here and I am already lovin’ it.”

Meanwhile, Awan is also excited to add another tricky case to his resume.

In a media talk, while referring to Shahzad, Awan said, “He is our only hope to bring the change in the national sport. He may have made a mistake or two but his heart is pure and hopes for the wellness of the country.”

With Najam Sethi resigning as the PCB chairman and Prime Minister Imran Khan nominating Ehsan Mani as the new cricket chief, Shahzad has put all his eggs in one basket.

His pending case will be decided by the new PCB chairman, a person Awan knows through a strong reference.
