Police misbehaved with Khawar Maneka, daughter, claims Ibrahim Maneka

Ibrahim Maneka, First Lady Bushra Bibi and her former husband Khawar Maneka’s son, wrote an email to the police inquiry committee in which he clarified that police personnel at the checkpoint had misbehaved with his father and sister.

Ibrahim Maneka referred to the allegations levelled at his father that he got Pakpattan DPO Rizwan Gondal transferred when the police team he was leading stopped Khawar for speeding.

Punjab Information Minister Fayazul Hasan Chohan had said on August 28 that Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar and Prime Minister Imran Khan had no role in the transfer of Pakpattan district police officer (DPO).

The DPO was reportedly transferred after he intercepted Khawar Maneka, former husband of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s wife, for speeding.

“There were complaints against the DPO from quite some time. The matter which is police’s internal matter has been resolved,” he said while addressing a press conference here.

“Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) is investigating the matter,” he added.

Pakpattan District Police Officer (DPO) Rizwan Gondal was ordered to relinquish his charge on August 27 after he reportedly refused to apologise to Khawar Maneka, the former husband of Pakistan’s first lady Bushra Imran, over a Aug 23 incident in which police officers had chased and intercepted his car after he sped away from a checkpoint.
