The Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) seems to have become a springboard for politicians facilitating them to move on to national and provincial politics from local government.

Two MCI members moved on to become National Assembly (NA) and provincial assembly members.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former Tumair Union Council chairman Khurram Nawaz became a member of NA (MNA) from NA-52.

On the other hand, Former MCI member Abida Raja was appointed as a member of provincial assembly (MPA) via a reserved seat in the Punjab Assembly.
