ISLAMABAD: Pakistan hockey fraternity Wednesday lauded the national team’s performance in the Asian Games and said that green-shirts will bag a gold medal in the mega event.
PHF president Brig (R) Khalid Sajjad Khokhar in a video message received here said the way senior and junior players were playing in the mega event showed that the team was performing like a unit.
“They have performed outstandingly well in the Asian Games and I urge players to treat the semi-final against Japan on Thursday like a final and win it,” he said.
PHF Secretary Shahbaz Ahmad said the whole nation was proud on team’s performance in the Asian Games. “The team is united and must return home after becoming the champion,” he said.
Former Olympian Nasir Ali feels Pakistan would easily outclass Japan in the semi-final. “Pakistan will bring home a gold medal and will make the whole nation proud.”
Former Olympian Qamar Ibrahim urged the Pakistani nation to keep the hockey team in your prayers as they had a big game coming up on Thursday. “It is PHF’s efforts which are paying off in the Asian Games,” he said and added it was the revival of Pakistan hockey.
International hockey player Jaan Mohammad said Pakistan team needed to give its best in the semi-final and prayed to Allah for the team’s win.
Former Olympian Kashif Jawwad said the players had been working very hard and would bring home a gold medal.
Former Olympian Sameer Hussain who was the coach in the 2014 Asian Games in which Pakistan lost to India, said the way Pakistan team was playing attacking hockey in the Asian Games it seemed they would bag a gold medal in the mega event.
