KASUR: The Ganda Singh police on Monday lodged a case against six people, of them three nominated, for allegedly injuring a man, who is a witness to the Hussain Khanwala child abuse scandal.

One of the accused was arrested by the police.

Hussain Khanwala, a village 15 kilometres from Kasur, came in the spotlight in 2015 because of child abuse cases.

An anti-terrorism court in Lahore awarded lifetime imprisonment and a fine of Rs300,000 each, in February, to Haseem Amir, Waseem Sindhi and Aleem Asif in one of the nine child abuse cases.

According to complainant Muhammad Sultan, Naseem Shahzad, younger brother of the main accused of child abuse scandal Haseem and Abdul Manan along with their four accomplices attacked him with knives, injuring him. He added that the accused threatened him to prevent him from giving witness in the child abuse case.

Police arrested Naseem Shahzad and were looking for other accused.

According to PRO Muhammad Sajid of the DPO office, the dispute erupted between both sides. He said complainant Sultan had seen his nephew, who was allegedly abused by the suspect, riding a motorcycle with accused Shahzad.

He scolded his nephew for traveling with their “enemy” as they were in litigation over the child abuse and other cases. This led to an exchange of arguments.

According to the police, Shahzad had also submitted an application seeking a case against Sultan.
