LAHORE: Punjab Information Minister Fayazul Hasan Chohan on Tuesday said that Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar and Prime Minister Imran Khan had no role in the transfer of Pakpattan district police officer (DPO).
The DPO was reportedly transferred after he intercepted Khawar Maneka, former husband of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s wife, for overspeeding.
“There were complaints against the DPO from quite some time. The matter which is police’s internal matter has been resolved,” he said while addressing a press conference here. “Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) is investigating the matter,” he added.
Chohan said that CM Buzdar reserved the right to use state helicopter, adding that objections would have solid grounds if it was being used by someone else.
“The government followed rule of law by putting Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz on the Exit Control List (ECL),” he said, adding that she had been convicted for lying, looting state funds, and involvement in financial corruption. “Naming convicts in the ECL is following rule of the law,” he maintained.
The minister lamented that PTI was being targeted as if they had been in power from the past seven years.
“Pakistan is in heavy financial debts due to corruption and money laundering of previous government functionaries. In the past ten years, people have been oppressed. Our first and foremost target would be to stabilise the economy. There was bad governance all over the country,” he added.
