KARACHI: Pakistan Customs on Tuesday issued a blanket ban on any protocol for passengers travelling via at Jinnah International Airport.

Customs Additional Collector Sanaullah Abro issued a standing order for the same while adding that luggage belonging to passengers would be properly scrutinised with no exceptions for anyone.

Customs staff deployed at the metropolitan’s airport have been informed of the order and will be penalised for non-compliance.

Earlier on August 26, the new government banned VIP protocol provided to influential people by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) at airports.

The ministry of interior directed all officials of the FIA’s immigration wing to implement the order. Previous governments have also tried to end VIP protocol at airports but the issue crops up repeatedly.
