Former Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) distribution companies seek an increase of approximately 63 paisa per unit in consumer tariffs due to currency devaluation and increase in global oil prices among other reasons, a local media outlet reported on Sunday.

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) is expected to take up the case on August 29.

Once approved, consumers will have to pay the increased rates from September, 2018.
