Here is a list of some of the most powerful attack helicopters in the world, in no particular order.


Mil Mi-24 Hind

Country of origin: Soviet Union/ Russia.

The Hip is among the most widely used attack helicopters in the world. Pakistan recently purchased four Mi-35M variant of the chopper from Russia.

 


 

Augusta A-129 / TAI T-129 ATAK

Country of origin: Italy/ Turkey

The T-129 Atak is an updated variant of the A-129 Mangusta. Pakistan signed a contract for the purchase of 30 T-129 Atak’s from Turkey in 2018.

 


Boeing AH-64 Apache

 

Country of origin: United States of America

The Ah-64 Apache has been produced since 1983 and used by a number of countries. It has regularly been updated ever since and is considered among the most heavily armed attack helicopters in the world.

 


Mil Mi-28N “Havoc”

 

Country of origin: Russia

Introduction: 2006.

In service with Russia, Algeria and Iraq.


 

Kamov Ka-52 “Alligator

Country of origin: Russia.

In services with Russian forces since 2010, the helicopter has a distinctive coaxial rotor and is one of the few heavily-armed attack helicopters with a dedicated reconnaissance role.

Users: Russia, Egypt.


 

Bell AH-1Z Viper

Country of origin: United States of America.

Considered among the most sophisticated and heavily armed attack helicopters in the world, the AH-1Z Viper follows a long iteration of designs dating back to the Vietnam-era AH-1 Cobra series.

Users: USA.

Pakistan placed an order for 15 AH-1Z Vipers in 2015.
