LAHORE: Minutes after taking oath as the Punjab health minister, Dr Yasmeen Rashid on Monday vowed to bring meaningful changes in the health sector within 100 days.
Speaking to media after being administered oath by Acting Punjab Governor Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, Yasmeen said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) led government would work towards turning this country into Jinnah’s Pakistan.
“We will follow the policy guidelines issued by Prime Minister Imran Khan and as far as the health sector is concerned, people will see meaningful reforms within 100 days,” said the minister.
Elected to the house on a reserved seat for women, Yasmeen has earlier served as the president of both Pakistan Medical Association and Pakistan Medical Association Lahore chapter. She has also been the chairperson of the Task Force Women Development and the Women Health Committee in Punjab.
Yasmeen is a gynaecologist by profession and has served as the head of the obstetrics and gynaecology department at King Edward Medical University. She has also worked at Rawalpindi Medical College, Fatima Jinnah Medical University and headed the Genealogy department of Central Park Medical College.
Yasmeen joined PTI following her retirement from government service in 2010.
