A surge of inauthentic social media posts created problems for local police in Ghaseetpura in the Balochni area where an attack took place on an Ahmadi worship place on Thursday.
Posts circulating on social media added fuel to the fire by claiming that seven Muslims had died as a result of firing by the Ahmadi community while several were injured. The posts insinuated that the local police was not providing security to the Muslims. However, verification shows that no such event took place and not a single casualty has been reported or confirmed by any government institutes like hospitals, Rescue 1122, police and other law enforcement agencies.
Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Operations Haider Sultan has been tasked with ensuring all the preventative measures are taken to avoid any unpleasant incident.
