LAHORE: Abid Boxer, a police officer known as encounter specialist, was released by the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) from Nawan Kot after brief detention of few hours on Sunday.
A murder case is registered at the Millat Park Police Station against Abid Boxer and for probe purpose, he and claimant of the case were summoned at Nawan Kot CIA centre, where both of them had exchange hot words following which Abid Boxer was confined in a lockup.
Later, the former police officer was released following detention of few hours. A local court had last month granted interim bail to the encounter specialist in as many as 10 criminal cases. Some of the cases registered against him pertained to murder, attempted murder and land-grabbing.
The authorities had informed the Lahore High Court that Abid Boxer was in their custody since February this year. Deputy Attorney General Syed Zafar Abbas Gilani told the court that the former police officer, who was involved in many criminal acts, has been brought back from Dubai in February.
