–Asks ministers to focus on party’s ideology

ISLAMABAD: Arif Alvi, the PTI’s nominee for the post of president, has sought the help of his fellow party’s leader Jahangir Khan Tareen to be able to meet his allies and request for their votes in the upcoming presidential election.

The presidential election is scheduled to take place on September 4.

PTI has already named Arif Alvi as its candidate for the prized slot while opposition parties are struggling to evolve a consensus to challenge the ruling party.

“Need to visit all provincial capitals with our team as instructed by Imran Khan to meet our allies and voters and request for their votes,” Ali said, adding that he has asked Jahangir Khan Tareen who is vacationing in the UK.

“I think he has had a good vacation and now back to work,” he added.

Earlier this month, Tareen made headlines on mainstream and social media over his efforts to win the support of independents and small parties that were instrumental in electing Imran Khan as the prime minister and dislodging the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government in Punjab.

EXPRESSES CONFIDENCE IN PM KHAN’S VISION:

Alvi also expressed his confidence in the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan to make a ‘new Pakistan’.

In an interview with a private TV channel, he said that all the newly-elected ministers should have to focus on the ideology of the party. He said that Imran Khan would keep his promises and there would be no compromise on corruption and merit.

He expressed the hope that the presidential election would be held in a free, fair and transparent manner. “There is no hurdle in the way of our party’s win in the coming presidential election as we truly believe on merit and its allied parties support,” he hoped.

The senior ruling party leader said that challenges of the economy, education and human development would be addressed on a priority basis. He said that PTI’s five-year successful experience of governance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) would be replicated to ensure uplift of common man across the country.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan, he said, the institutions would be strengthened that faced a ‘collapse’ during the previous government. To a question, he said that the Punjab chief minister would bring a real change in the province by implementing PM Khan’s vision.

Arif Alvi said that it was the responsibility of the ruling party to bring a change in the lives of people and fulfil all the promises which were made during the election campaign. He said that PTI along with other political parties had worked on the electoral reforms and now it was ready to work on further strengthening the electoral system.

He said that all the political leaders should work together for strengthening democracy in the country. He said that PTI has committed to appointing honest, hardworking and well-experienced persons in all the government, semi-government and autonomous departments to revive the national economy.
