The appointment of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Musharraf Rasool Cyan has been termed as an “irregular favour” by the auditor general of Pakistan (AGP), according to a local media outlet.

The AGP also recommended the immediate sacking of CEO Cyan.

The AGP office also reportedly recommended that the salary received by the CEO should be recovered and an investigation must be launched into the matter to probe whether the officer’s appointment was facilitated by then-advisor to prime minister Sardar Mehtab Abbasi.

An audit report had said, “The appointment of Cyan was made totally in violation of guidelines.”
