ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) senior leader and former Senate chairman Raza Rabbani said on Saturday that the people of Pakistan and the parliament have rejected the United States’ ‘do more’ demand.
He said this in response to the controversial readout issued by the US State Department on Prime Minister Imran Khan and US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s phone call.
Rabbani said that the Pakistan is facing the worst political and economic stability because of its involvement in the US’ war on terror.
“The Foreign Office (FO) statement on Pompeo’s call is a cause of concern as it reflects a relationship similar to that of a master and servant. The people of Pakistan do not accept this. We will raise the matter in the next Senate session,” Rabbani added.
The former Senate chairman questioned the haste shown by the PTI government over dialogue with India.
“The haste of resumption of dialogue is not in line with the Pakistani position with India. Pakistan will only participate in the dialogue if Kashmir issue is also in the agenda. Pakistan cannot limit the dialogue to terrorism,” he said.
