ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry on Saturday said that the revolutionary decisions taken by Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan have helped save millions of rupees of the country’s exchequer.
Talking to the media, he said that PM Imran Khan had taken historic and unprecedented decisions in the recent cabinet meetings which helped saving millions. “The newly democratically elected PM has inspired the whole cabinet by setting precedents and surrendered his discretionary powers. Imran Khan was the role model for the entire cabinet,” the minister said.
Commenting on presidential elections, he said the party’s senior leader Arif Alvi would be elected as the president of Pakistan.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has the support of a required number of voters, imperative for winning the presidential slot. “PTI attained the full support of coalition partners including Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA), Pakistan Muslim League (PML) and Mutahidda Qaumi Movement (MQM),” he added.
The minister claimed that PTI will win the elections without any hurdle. “We have decided to launch two new channels of Pakistan Television (PTV), a dedicated sports channel to cover all sports except cricket and the present PTV Sports shall be re-branded as PTV Cricket. The channel would be dedicated for children under sixteen,” he revealed.
He also said that PTI government has already abolished censorship from Radio Pakistan and Pakistan Television.
Regarding advertisements, he said that he will give a detailed briefing on the monopoly regarding advertisements relating to the government.
Responding to a question, he said that Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed was taking special measures to reduce a whooping deficit of the railways.
Criticising the former minister for railways, he said that Khawaja Saad Rafique caused massive damage to the Pakistan Railways during his tenure.
