PM Imran, Punjab CM decide to form small provincial cabinet

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan and Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Usman Buzdar on Friday decided to form a small provincial cabinet.

According to the media, names of Punjab cabinet members will be finalised within two days.

During the meeting it was decided that 15 members will be assigned portfolios in the first phase whereas, senior members of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will be appointed on key ministries.

Rumours circulating the media state that the names under consideration for key ministries include Mehmood-ur-Rasheed for the Ministry of Housing and Communication and Works Department.

Aleem Khan is being considered for the position of Minister for Local Government, Yasmin Rashid for the post of Health Minister, Sibtain Khan for Minister of Agriculture while Samiullah Khan might bag the post of Chief Whip.

Furthermore, Hashim Khan is being measured for the post of Punjab Minister for Education, Hasnain Dreshak for Provincial Finance Minister, Aslam Iqbal for Provincial Information Minister, Raja Basharat for Provincial Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Jahanzeb Kacchi for Punjab Minister of Livestock.

Raja Yasir is under consideration for the position of Punjab Minister of Higher Education.

Other names that are being mulled over for key roles include Fayyaz-ul-Hassan, Rashid Hafeez, Saeeda Sohail, Murad Raas, Ajmal Cheema, Mohsin Leghari and Malik Akhtar.
