Bureaucracy reshuffled as PTI govt takes reins

ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet on Friday approved the summary of transfers and posting on key posts in a bid to tighten its hold on bureaucracy.

The Pakistan Tehreek Insaf (PTI) government appointed Dr Ijaz Munir as Establishment Division secretary after the posting of Azam Khan as secretary to Prime Minister.

The notification issued by the Establishment Division (ED) available said that Dr Ijaz Munir, a BS-22 officer of Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS) presently working as Aviation Division secretary was transferred and posted as Establishment Division secretary with immediate effect and until further orders.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Zubair Hashmi, a BS-20 officer of Police Service of Pakistan presently serving in National Vocational and Technical Training Commission under federal Education and Professional Training Division is transferred and directed to report to ED with immediate effect and until further orders.

Statistics Division (SD) Secretary Tariq Mahmood Pasha, a BS-22 Inland Revenue Service (IRS) officer, on Friday, was transferred and posted as Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan (GB) Division secretary with immediate effect.

Ayub Sheikh, a BS -22 officer Secretariat Group (SG) officer, was appointed as the new SD secretary.

Another major shuffle was made in the Petroleum Division (PD) where its current secretary Jalal Sikandar Sultan, a PAS BS-21 officer,  was transferred to States and Frontiers Division was transferred as PD’s additional secretary until further orders.

Further, Aurangzeb Haque, a BS-22 PAS officer, was transferred to the Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) as its secretary.

CADD Secretary Saqib Aziz was in turn sent to Aviation Division as its new secretary.

The SG’s BS-19 officer Muhammad Tariq, presently working under Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government was posted as Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) joint secretary under the Civil Servants Act of 1973.

Zaid bin Maqsood, a BS-19 officer of PAS presently posted under the government of Punjab is transferred and posted as PMO deputy secretary with immediate effect and until further orders.
