RAWALPINDI: Captain (r) Muhammad Safdar Awan, the son-in-law of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, was taken to the Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology (RIC) after complaining of chest pain on Wednesday.
Safdar underwent a medical examination at the health facility.
According to reports, Safdar has been complaining of stomach and chest pain. He is said to be vomiting frequently too.
An accountability court sentenced Safdar to a year in prison in connection with the Avenfield corruption reference on July 6. Former PM Nawaz Sharif was handed down a 10-year term. Safdar’s wife Maryam Nawaz was sentenced to seven years.
The accused were also disqualified to contest elections or to hold public office for a period of 10 years from the date they are released. They shall not be allowed to avail any liabilities for 10 years from the date of their conviction within the meaning of Section 15 of NAO 1999.
