‘Robbers’ shoot a constable upon resistance in Karachi

Robbers shot a policeman who was performing intelligence duty in Federal B Area of Karachi. According to Gulberg station house officer (SHO) Rashid Ali, head-constable Mohammed Imran was sitting at his friend’s oil shop near the Karimabad flyover when three men arrived on a motorbike.

One of the suspects tried to loot the shop at gunpoint. The police constable tried to stop the robbery by pulling out his gun and opening fire on the robbers who turned the fire and hit him in the chest.

The suspects while escaping from the crime scene shot a motorcyclist, later identified as Javed Ali, snatched his motorbike and rode away.

Both the wounded were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where doctors pronounced head-constable Imran dead. He was 45 years old.

According to the SHO, “Imran was posted to the Sharifabad police station on an intelligence duty.”
