Promoting austerity: Tea served without refreshments in PM Khan’s first cabinet meeting

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday held his first official meeting with his cabinet members where they were tasked to work 14 hours a day and were served tea without additional refreshments, a local news outlet reported.

As PM Khan entered the room, the cabinet members rose from their seats to welcome him. The prime minister then congratulated them for taking the oath of their respective offices.

The cabinet members were served tea without any biscuits or other refreshments.

PM Khan also tasked them to work 14 hours a day and told them that he himself would work than 16 hours a day.

Promoting austerity, the prime minister directed his cabinet members to avoid wasting the taxpayers’ money by cutting down on their expenses.

The prime minister told his cabinet members that although he wished to summon a cabinet meeting every day, they would meet once or twice a week. He also told them that had their not been an Eid vacation, they would not have been given holidays.

Emphasising the importance of their duties, PM Khan told them that they would have to forget their families and work for the betterment of the country.
