Hajj sermon lays emphasis on good character, respectful behaviour

MOUNT ARAFAT: The Hajj sermon delivered by Sheikh Hussein bin Abdelaziz Al al-Sheikh at Mount Arafat on Monday laid emphasis on good character and respectful behaviour among Islam’s most important lessons.

More than two million Muslims from around the world reached Mount Arafat as part of the annual Hajj.

The Holy Prophet (PBUH) delivered his last sermon at Mount Arafat.

The Ghilaf-e-Kaaba was changed on Monday morning as well. The new Ghilaaf is made from 670 kg of pure silk, 120kg of gold and 100kg of silver.

The pilgrims are set to pray Zuhr and Asr prayers together and recite Quranic verses until sunset. They will then set off for Muzdalifah where they will perform combined Maghreb and Isha prayers, staying till midnight.

The Saudi authorities have deployed tens of thousands of security personnel for the Hajj. Furthermore, this year also saw the introduction of the “Smart Hajj” initiative that guides pilgrims in making decisions related to travel and medical care.

All Muslims are required to perform the Hajj at least once in their life if they have the means and the health to do so.
