A notice was issued to the investigation officer (IO) by the anti-terrorism court in Naqeebullah Mehsud murder case, registered against former Malir SSP Rao Anwar and other police officials, for his continuous absence during the hearings, reported a local media newspaper.
The judge was aggrieved over the continuous absence of investigation officer SP Dr Rizwan Ahmed and said that if the police officer wasn’t interested in his duty, the court might be informed.
The investigation officer was ordered to appear in the court with a reply to the notice issued to him for his absence.
Naqeebullah Mehsud, a 27-year-old from South Waziristan, was murdered on January 13 in Shah Latif Town in an alleged ‘encounter’ with a police team headed by Rao Anwar after being missing for 10 days. He was accused of having links to militant groups but the accusations proved false upon trial.
The court was adjourned until September 18.
