ISLAMABAD: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) President Sardar Masood Khan on Sunday said that the Pakistani and Kashmiri diaspora community is playing a vital role in raising the Kashmir issue and creating awareness relating to this long-standing conflict.

President Masood Khan made these remarks while meeting European Union-Pakistan Friendship Federation Chairman Pervez Losar who called on the President here at Jammu and Kashmir House.

The President urged the diaspora community to engage the civil society, media and parliamentarians in the countries where they live and sensitize them to the recent UN report issued by the Office of the High Commissioner on Human Rights.

He added that as recommended by the Commission, India must be made to repeal the Armed Forces Special Powers Act and the Public Safety Act, which have provided the Indian forces with an open license to commit gross human rights violations in Indian Occupied Kashmir and allow international fact-finding missions to IOK.

AJK praised the services of Pervez Losar and his Federation for highlighting the Kashmir issue, the gross human rights violations taking place in IOK and also their efforts towards ensuring the right self-determination of the people of Kashmir.

Talking to Pervez Losar, the President further said that he and his should inform the European Union of India’s efforts in revoking Article 35-A, under which India wants to change the demography within IOK and make the Muslim majority into a minority.
