KARACHI: First special train for Eidul Azha left for Peshawar on Sunday from Karachi City Railway Station.
According to Railway Director Services Arshad Salam Khattak, the train, which has 14 bogies attached, has earned Rs 1.2 million so far.
A total of 980 seats have been booked by passengers.
Earlier this week, Pakistan Railways announced that it would operate five special trains this Eid. A discount of 25 per cent was also announced during the first and second day of Eid.
According to a Pakistan Railways spokesperson, the approval for special trains was given by Pakistan Railways Chief Executive Officer Aftab Akbar in order to facilitate passengers.
Moreover, he informed that citizens of 65 or above can claim free tickets on all classes of all trains by showing their original national identity cards.
