Twitteratis in India expressed their anger at the participation of former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu at the oath taking ceremony of Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday.

“Curse on you Sidhu sahib, curse on you. How will you answer to your country and your people?” tweeted one.

Laanat Sidhu saab, laanat. You have been deliberately made to sit next to PoK President…and you did not object. Kis muh say apnay mulk kay logon ko javaab dogey? https://t.co/3rb1QGmnMP

Another referred to Sidhu as a traitor, calling for strict punishment.

Another user called him “a shameless person, Atal ji gave him chance in politics, he nurtured him in politics. When entire country is crying on the death of Atal ji, this shameless is in celebration mood,” he said.

“Once upon a time, Sidhu used to consider Atalji as his political mentor. He then joined Congress. Today, while India mourns Atalji, Sidhu chose to celebrate Pakistani PM’s ceremony by crossing Wagah in Bollywood style, and reciting Punjabi poetry! Girey, aur phir girtey gaye…!” said another.
