Doctors’ alleged negligence left a woman dead at Lady Willingdon Hospital on Thursday, according to a local media group.
According to reports, 27-year-old Sadaf was brought to the hospital five days ago after she went into labour. Sadaf’s husband Abdul Qayyum said that she underwent a C-section and gave birth to a baby girl during which the doctor left a surgical clamp inside his wife. Her condition began to deteriorate.
“They took her for another procedure to remove the surgical clamp. However, during the operation, she started to bleed out. They used 125 bottles of blood but were not able to save her,” he added.
The deceased’s family held a violent protest against the medical staff. On the complaint of the hospital management, police arrived at the scene and took the situation under control. A case was also registered against those behind violence.
While Lady Willingdon Hospital Medical Superintendent Khawaja Mehboob Ahmed claimed that the allegations made against hospital staff were false.
A three-member inquiry committee has been set up by Punjab Health Department to look into the matter.
