PTI tigers, tigresses celebrate after Imran Khan elected as PM

Nationwide celebrations kicked off right after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan was elected as the 22nd Prime Minister (PM) of Pakistan in the Friday’s session of National Assembly.

As Imran Khan’s 22-year-old dream to become the Leader of the House came true, the PTI tigers and tigresses were overwhelmed with joy. Popular party songs were played at different offices where the PTI workers had gathered with their eyes fixed at the TV sets.

Despite a predictable victory on the cards, the PTI fans celebrated with great zeal when National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser announced that the PTI chief has received 176 votes while his opponent Shehbaz Sharif bagged only 96 votes.

From doing pushups to displaying the banners depicting their hero, workers and fans didn’t restrain themselves from expressing their emotions. Sweets and cakes were distributed on the occasion.

Imran, whose party swept the July 25 general election and commands the loyalty of a majority of lawmakers in the Lower House of Parliament, will take oath of office on Friday.

Local news channels replayed 1992 Cricket World Cup final in which Pakistan defeated England under the leadership of Imran Khan. His victory speech and the iconic “Who Rules the World” song was featured in the special news packages.
