Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has removed Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Nayyar Hayat from his position, a notification issued on Thursday said.
The notification added that Hayat will now serve as the chief special project. PIA spokesperson told media persons that Hayat will monitor the special audit.
Moreover, General Manager (Budget) Asad Abbas will serve as the acting CFO, the spokesperson added.
According to media reports, Hayat had refused to pay the fee of PIA CEO Musharraf Rasool Cyan’s lawyers. The national carrier was asked to pay for the lawyers’ fee from the funds, they added.
PIA CEO Musharraf Rasool Cyan is in the eye of multiple storms on different fronts. From PIA Union taking Cyan, to the Supreme Court raising questions on his appointment, from Chief Justice Saqib Nisar asking him to pay for 43 guests who enjoyed PIA’s new initiative Air Safari on its maiden, promotional flight, to National Accountancy Bureau NAB being tasked to look into his appointment, salary and perks.
